Wiley Elmo Foutch

December 16, 1929 - January 16, 2017

Wiley Elmo Foutch, 87, of Huntsville, AL, went to be with his Lord, January 16, 2017. He was admitted to the Huntsville Hospital four days earlier. Funeral services will be held Thursday , January 19, at the Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville, AL, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. prior to the services at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Preston Cemetery. His nephew, Dr. Vincent Bryant Smith, III, pastor of the Northside Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA, will officiate. Mr. Foutch was born in Gassaway, Cannon County, TN on December 16, 1929, to the late, William Repsie, Sr. and Martha Lovia Keith Foutch. After gradution from Lawrence County High School in Moulton, AL, he attended amd graduated from Athens College in 1950. While studying at Athens, he joined the National Guard Unit there, shortly after graduation the National Guard Unit was activated. He and his unit were deployed and served in Korea. Following active duty in Korea he continued his education at George Peabody College for Teachers completing a Master’s of Arts Degree in the field of Secondary Education. For six years, he was employed by the Madison County Schools, serving as teacher, coach and principal at Harvest Junior High School. For more than thirty years, he owned and managed the Huntsville Blueprinting Company. Wiley Elmo was married for 65 years to Dorothy Mae Benson, who preceded him in death by two years. Throughout, their years together, Elmo and Dot, were active residents of Huntsville, AL. For many years, Elmo was an active member of the Pacesetters Lions Club. He was also a member of two lineage organizations, the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV). Those he leaves behind include two sons: Benjamin Elmo Foutch, (Melony) of NC; Wiley Dub Foutch, (Angela); eight grandchildren: Michael (Victoria); Steven, (Tory); Lewis, (Neley); Tara, (Lee Buller); Jessica McBride (Lisa); Alan, Beth (Derek), Jennifer (Ricky); sixteen great grandchildren; a sister, Billie Anita Foutch Breedlove, of Batesville, MS; a brother. William Repsie Foutch, Jr., (Wanda) of Hazel Green, Al, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jo Doris Foutch Sewell, (Forrest Vernon); Bettye Delano Foutch Benson, (Garland). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pacesetter Lions Club of Huntsville-Madison County, AL in memory of Wiley Elmo Foutch PO Box 162 Huntsville Al. 35804.
