Virginia Berry

April 12, 1927 - January 22, 2012

Mrs. Virginia Beasley Berry of Guntersville, formerly of Birmingham, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Summerford Nursing Home in Hartselle, AL. She was 84 years old. She was born April 12, 1927 to Henry and Mamie Beasley in Pocahontas, Walker Co., AL. Mrs. Berry graduated from Carbon Hill High School and Birmingham Art School. At art school is where she met William (Bill) E. Berry and they married in 1949. She was very actice in Glen Iris Elementary PTA in the 60's and became a well respected draftsman for land survey companies around Birmingham. She was also a long time member of 11th Avenue Methodist Church, the church's supper club, and was a member of Guntersville Methodist Church. Bill and Virginia were former boaters in Guntersville and belonged to the Yacht Club. She is survived by her two sons, William E. Berry, Jr. (wife Susan) of Albany, GA and Mark R. Berry (wife Darnell) of Hartselle, AL; Grandchildren, Kalen Berry (Kayla) of Boston, MA, Rachel Berry (Derek) of Gray, GA, and Kyle Berry of Huntsville, AL; Great grandchild, Morgan Rackley of Gray, GA; Brothers, Horace Beasley (wife Lavern) of Pell City, AL, Leon Beasley (wife Linda) of Snead, AL, H.Y. Beasley (wife Sylvia) of Gardendale, AL, Howard Beasley (wife Barbara) of Kennesaw, GA; Sister, Sheron Johnson (husband Terry) of Hoover, AL; Sister-in-law, Lou Beasley of Franklin, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mamie Beasley; husband, William (Bill) Berry; brother, Don Beasley; and granddaughter, Heather Berry. Funeral Service for Mrs. Berry was held Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Ridouts Trussville Chapel. Visitation began at noon prior to the service. Family requests donations be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children Hospital, stjude.org or the Red Cross, american.redcross.org.
