Bonnie Couch Segui

April 1, 1942 - February 12, 2022

Mrs. Bonnie C. Segui, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Marshall Medical Center in Guntersville. She was born April 1, 1942 in Bath Springs, Tennessee. She was the only child of Othel V. Couch and Dixie W. Couch. She spent most of her life living in Guntersville, Alabama. Bonnie Segui was the wife of Everett Russell Segui, Jr. They were married at St. William Catholic Church on January 11, 1964. Bonnie and Russell celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary this year. She graduated from Marshall County High School in 1960, and attended Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Bonnie worked at the US Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, AL as a Systems Analyst where she retired in 1988 after a total of 27 years. Bonnie Segui was an active member of St. William Catholic Church. She wrote the history of St. William Catholic Church as well as managed the St. William 25th Anniversary Seafood Festival. Bonnie Segui was an active member of many patriotic societies and served these organizations in the following capacity: She was a 48-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she held the offices of Registrar, Librarian, Parliamentarian, Regent, Vice Regent, and Recording Secretary. She was active in the United Daughters of the Confederacy where she held offices of President, 2nd Vice President, and Recorder of Military Crosses. She held many offices in Colonial Dames including State Treasurer of the Alabama State Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century, and President and Treasurer of the Colonel Walter Aston Chapter of the Alabama State Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. She was a charter member of the Rachel Jackson Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the War of 1812. Throughout her life, Bonnie always enjoyed cooking big meals for her family and compiling recipes from friends and family alike. She made clothes and blankets for her grandchildren and their cousins when they were young. She also dedicated her free time to assembling an extensive family tree that can be traced back to the American Revolution and the 17th century. Family and friends will always remember her warm meals and warm heart. Bonnie Segui is survived by her husband, Everett Russell Segui, Jr. of Guntersville, AL; daughter, Pamela Segui Slatsky; son-in-law, Michael D. Slatsky; granddaughter, Katie (Michael) Pham; grandsons, Alex Slatsky and Ian Slatsky all of Birmingham, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents Othel Vern Couch and Dixie Webb Couch. There will be a graveside service at Gilliam Springs Cemetery in Arab, AL on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Noon. Pallbearers are Michael Slatsky, Alex Slatsky, Ian Slatsky, Michael Pham, Phillip Edmonds, and Wayne Gregg. A special thank you to Bishop Emeritus Robert Baker and Father Mark Spruill for anointing Bonnie in her final hours. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Katie Pham, Mrs. JoAnn Knight, Mrs. Jan Langley, and Mrs. Mona Messenger for their contribution to Bonnie’s Obituary
