Joel Edward Williams, Sr - Age 85 - of Guntersville, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Marshall Medical Center North. Service for Mr. Williams will be Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11 am at Carr Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Elliott and Rev. Terry Bentley officiating and Carr Funeral Home Directing. There will be a Graveside Service on Saturday Afternoon, September 24, 2011 at 3 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery in Columbia, Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be Bob Fox, Norman Giles, Tony Owens, Gerry Mills, Chelsea Carter, and Joel Williams, Jr.

Joel Edward Williams, Sr was born in Marshall County, Alabama, October 27, 1925; the son of Chelsea Carlisle and Willie Mae Sutton Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Merle Williams, of Guntersville; 2 sons: Joel Edward Williams, Jr of Guntersville and Gerald Edward Mills of Union Grove; 5 daughters: Yonnie Williams and Burt Carter of Georgia, Chari Williams of Texas, Leslie Michelle Mills and Tom House of North Carolina, Charissa Kirby and her husband, James, of Guntersville, and Kheanne Fontaine and her husband, Robert, of Tennessee; 14 Grandchildren; 2 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 sister, Mildred Williams Campbell and her husband, Billy, of Birmingham. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret McMeen.
