Jewell Mellisa Lee Thornton - Age 86 - of Guntersville, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Shepherd's Cove Hospice in Albertville. Service for Mrs. Thornton will be Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 3 pm at Carr Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kenny Sexton officiating and Carr Funeral Home Directing. Interment will be in Sweet Home Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Thornton will be Friday, August 26, 2011 from 6 until 8 pm at Carr Funeral Home.

Jewell Mellisa Lee Thornton was born in the State of Alabama, March 11, 1925; the daughter of Gus and Bell Crowe Jarmon.

Mrs. Thornton is survived by 1 Son, David Thornton, and his Wife, Carla, of Guntersville; 4 Grandchildren: Jonathan Thornton and his Wife, Angela, Christi Conn and her Husband, Scott, Richard Calhoun and his Wife, Lori, and Kyler Thornton; 7 Great-Grandchildren: Annalia Thornton, Alex Conn, Ali Jewell Thornton, Taylar Woolbright, Jaren Calhoun, Jace Calhoun, Tate Calhoun, and Ariana Conn; and 1 Brother, Loyd Jarmon and his Wife, Cola, of Florida. Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her Husband, Roy Thornton; 1 Son, Larry Wayne Thornton; a Granddaughter, Natasha Thornton; 5 Brothers: Leonard Jarmon, Leamon Jarmon, Ralph Jarmon, Willard Jarmon, and Millard Jarmon; and 1 Sister, Ollie Hudgins.
